Fudan University ranks 43rd among the top 50 universities globally, according to the new 13th edition of the QS World University Rankings. Beijing's Tsinghua University ranks 24th and Peking University ranks 39th, giving the Chinese mainland for the first time in history three spots in the top 50 ranking, the Xinmin Evening News reported.
QS World University Rankings evaluate the world's top 900 universities based on six performance indicators including academic and employer reputation, student-to-faculty ratio, citations per faculty and ratios of international faculty and students.
Fudan has been working unremittingly toward academic reputation and internationalization. It thus climbed from 71st in 2014 to 51st in 2015.
Hong Kong also has three universities among the Top 50, which are The University of Hong Kong (27th), The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (36th), and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (44th).
